Inside school

Picture 2: Here is a picture inside the school, we are providing adult education on a secondary level for unemployed people in the region. Workplace training combined with theoretical and practical training at our learning centers lead to employability or further studies.

  1. You are quite right that a good mixture of theory and practice leads to good learning. Do you find any particular teaching strategies work best for the unemployed students? We have courses similar to this in Australia although there are nto so many in the automtive industry.

    1. I think that it is importent for them to be at school so they dont miss any lessons. A few in every class have problems whith going in school and sometimes they have been unemployed for a long time. At the training at companys they grow and have a good chance to do well and mabye getting a work at the company after finiching the scool. So they have to do well at the companys. We teatchers must do interesting lessons so that the students stay in school. What do you think of how to help the unemployed students?

  2. Helping students who are unemployed is something that we find difficult. This is particularly the case when students have been unemployed for a long time. We try and involve these students as much as possible and often begin with the practical skills before going on to the theory. With younger students we use a mixture of video, practical and group work to get them interested in learning. They are made to attend classes or their welfare payments are stopped so they are not necessarily in our classes because they want to be there. We also do a lot of work to build up the confidence of the students as well as giving them career guidance and good workplacements,Do you do this in Sweden?

  3. We have simulare problems and it´s a lot of younger students without their examination, and they have bad confidence. Thats why they have to feel like learning can be with fun at the same time, so you have to anthusimate them and to learn i different ways.
